Making a few final steps of preparation for my Forbidden Psalm playthrough. A bit of arts and crafts I thought would be useful to share, as I know many of you also like to enrich your gaming experience with custom accessories.

A set of six Omen cards for use with the Forbidden Psalm game was designed by Knucklebones Miniatures, and you can find them here: LINK. Knucklebones actually mainly produces 3D printable miniature sculpts, and I recommed having a look at their catalogue while you’re there. The artwork they used on the cards are woodcuts from Claude Paradin's Devises heroïques, a mid 16th century book of emblems (allegorical illustrations). There are dozens more of such striking images in the book, so check that out if you’re looking for something similar for your own project.

Since Knucklebones were kind enough to share the card PDFs with the community, I thought I’d use them to cook up a homemade deck, and show off the process for those who never attempted something like that. What you need is the downloadable PDFs, printer paper, access to a laser printer, card (I used scrap food packaging), PVA, a gluestick, a knife and ruler, black paint or spray, a candle, and a cup of coffee. Read on for a step-by-step.

Thanks again to Knucklebones Miniatures for the files, don’t forget to show them some love. In the future I’d love to make a tutorial that covers the entire process, including card design. Completely custom homemade cards for your games, from start to finish. Let me know if that’s something you’d like to see.

And big thanks to all who became Gardens of Hecate’s patrons on Patreon since last week! Your support is sincerely appreciated. This is excellent and will definitely engance the gaming experience, definitely giving it a go

I really like these! I ran a bunch of Mork Both for a bit and I found that players often forgot to use their Omens.

I think using a physical prop like this could really help. I should make up a batch before I run again.

Cool stuff, a little effort put towards the gaming paraphernalia can really enhance the experience! Gotta get a set printed for myself!

Btw where are those character sheets from? (Awaiting my copy of the book, so can’t tell if from there ...)

By Luka on 2022 08 25

Thanks Luka! The char sheets are my own. I wanted special rules for their feats, flaws, equipment, weapons, etc. written in full on the sheet, so I don’t have to flip through the book much.

The book does have a warband sheet inside, and you can download it in fillable PDF form here: https://impioussaint.itch.io/forbidden-psalm-character-sheet
