As I understand, there are many duardin who revere Sigmar as their god, but all Stormcast Eternals I've seen so far are distinctly human in shape. It's possible that Sigmar completely disregards the species of his fallen worthy champions and reforges them all into idealized human form. Or, we simply haven't been shown any non-human Stormcast yet... I don't know, but I made this dwarf Stormcast. The model was converted from the leader of the Warhammer Underworlds Fyreslayer warband. The head is from some kind of Stormcast hero.

I'm known for treating Warhammer lore as a polite suggestion rather than hallowed gospel, but I'm actually curious what (if anything) it says on the matter of non-human Stormcast. Does anyone know? Tell me in the comments below.

Don't talk to me or my son ever again...

This quartet of mortal stunties came from Hasslefree Miniatures. There are tons of dwarf miniatures out there, in many different styles. These are toned-down, perfectly-sized dwarf soldiers that I wanted in my collection as soon as I spotted them. I replaced their right hands with Perry medieval plastic ones, and gave them thumbtack/roman shields. They will be joined by crossbow dwarfs converted from eM4 plastics, and will provide some variety to my prevalently human pool of soldiers and mercenaries for games like RoSD and Fabula.

Lovely minis as always!
As for non-human stormcast, I’ve heard there’s a novel (“Soul Wars” by Josh Reynolds perhaps?) in which a stormcast is hinted to have been an aelf in his former life.

Thank you! That’s interesting. Were they described as looking any different than the human ones?

I haven’t read the book myself but I believe it was merely suggested by the manners of said stormcast, not by their appearance. But then, it’s only a little hint in a Black Library novel.
In the end, until GW make it official, the answer to whether there can be non-human stormcast or not is “maybe”.

In my opinion, since duardins are the oldest allies of humans and considering that the six smiths who reforge the souls are duardins themselves, I can easily conceive duardin stormcast. To add with that, I like to believe that each god is worshipped under differents aspects/personalities by different cultures and races. Thus I imagine azyrite aelfs (those who haven’t been recreated by the aelven gods from the souls extracted from Slaanesh) worshipping an ‘aelf-like’ aspect of Sigmar as god of the stars. And of course, they would be potential candidates to be reforged as stormcast eternals.

The blue guys keep reminding me of Watchmen’s Dr Manhattan wink Love the metallics and muted palette on dwarves!

Smurfs have never looked more fearsome. Great stuff!

Not that fond of the Hasslefree dwarves. Not that they’re not well painted, they are. And I do appreciate the hand swaps, it really helps. But I just intensely dislike the chubby cosy cartoon dwarf. At least they don’t have viking helmets and they’re not drinking beer.  Though they probably will once the dungeon’s been cleared.

@ The Golem - Thanks for elaborating on that!

@potsiat - Hahaha, thanks!

@ Gavroche - Thank you! I’m not a fan of ‘scottish vikings’ variety of dwarfs either. These Hasslefree guys match the style I’ve established for my fantasy mortals better than any other dwarf minis I’ve found so far. We all have our own preferences, certainly. smile
