The Annihilator is a Grobnik armoured walker which towers over its smaller brethren. It can shoot, and it can trample the intruders into a bloody pulp. This is my second take on this idea (and certainly not the last). You may recall the first one from earlier this year, when I made a pair of minis from plastic surprise egg capsules: LINK. This second one was also built from scavenged bits, including a toy skull as the main body of the model.

Since Grobniks were built by many different makers over many centuries, you can find plenty of iterations of the same unit type on the Nekroplanet: from mass produced identical trooper armies, to fully unique finely crafted constructs.

The build started from a Halloween wind-up toy. I dismantled it and removed the legs and mechanism, leaving the stylized skull shell. This was very simple to do, it being held together with a pair of tiny Phillips screws.

The robotic legs were built from various toy parts, trash, and nail art pizzaz. The bulk of the leg material came from a McDonald's Optimus Prime toy's arms and feet. Unlike the wind-up Halloween skull, the Transformer was a nightmare to dismantle. The screws were of a tricky type (triangle), and even with those out, the two plastic halves would not separate. I have a few more McDonald's toys, and they are all uncooperative like that... Anyways, the parts were ultimately sawed off with a modeller's saw.

I shamelessly stole the eye guns idea from Roboskull, a flying vehicle from the Action Force toy line of the '80s. Milliput yellow/grey was used to patch the plastic bits together, and now it's sturdy and perfectly stable without a base - which is appreciated.

The model was painted in my standard Grobnik scheme, with desaturated greenish tones, bone, black details and solid bright red weapons.

Above you can see the new Annihilator playing in the sand with its metallic friends. The tomb gate in the background is another new Nekroplanet build I want to show off, but I'll keep that for the next post.

Which one of the two Annihilators do you prefer? Let me know in the comments.

Outstanding! I like the different, but related look of these walkers.
