The above photo is my entry for #inqtenebris invitational by @spanishinq28, over on Instagram. The challenge was to paint and photograph a miniature using the technique of tenebrism (high contrast of light and dark + darkness dominates picture = dramatic impact). Unsurprisingly the idea appealed to me, so here it is. Below is the unedited version. As you can see, I just set up a bunch of roots on a black shirt and set up the minis there trying to conceal the bases as much as possible. Finished the job in the editing stage.

The models themselves are Disgraced Knights, conversions of Perry plastics intended for use in a variety of games. I want to field these guys instead of Kairic Acolytes in Silver Tower, and as enemies in my fantasy skirmishes. Mission two of Rangers of Shadow Deep is in preparation, and I don't have or want to use any Gnolls - so I'm going to proxy. This bunch is currently in my personal painting queue with that in mind, and I'll write more about them when they're done:

The following pair of Warhammer characters were a recent commission. The one on the left is a Sewer Jack, which are specialized city watch department patroling the sewer tunnels and taking out nasty monsters that spawn there. The one on the right is a Rat Catcher. He catches rats...

The minis were converted from a variety of bits (GW, North Star, Perry), and involved a fair bit of puttywork.

If you want a custom miniature or piece of scenery made for you, drop me an email - you can find it in the bottom of the page, together with the Gardens of Hecate Facebook, Instagram and RSS links.

I am really psyched to read your playthrough of the second RoSD mission! I’m prepping models for a playthrough of it and, like you, am avoiding gnolls.
Great looking models as always. That tenebrism photo really works.

Looking great! I love the rat catcher- especially the severed tails- reminds me of that area in Dark Souls 2. The perry knights look stunning as usual, I picked up a box just because of your conversions!

@Napwnleon - Nice! I like how RoSD motivates one to make scenery and minis even though it’s a game so open to proxies.

@Luke - Thank you! You’ll get a lot of joy from Perry knights, I’m certain.

Who would think the grimdark can get even darker :D
Rat tails are a great touch!

Cheers potsiat! I had a bunch of rat tails in my bits box from all the skaven I turned into ghouls and such. I knew they would come in handy some day.
