NEKROPLANET RANGE MOVES TO RAMSHACKLE GAMES

If you tried to purchase the Grobnik figures from Mammoth Miniatures this month, you will have noticed they were no longer in their webshop. I moved the Nekroplanet range to Ramshackle Games, who will now be manufacturing and distributing the existing figures and any new additions that come in the future. The Grobniks are now available to order from the Ramshackle online shop: SHOP .

While you’re there for the Grobniks do check out the rest of the store. There are tons of figures and bits for your kitbashes and skirmishes!

Curtis made completely new moulds from the original sculpts. A really cool feature he added is that the sprue is made up of bits and pieces of Grobniks, artefacts, and tombstones. Instead of useless chunks of resin ending up in the trash you’ll have bits for your bases and terrain. Here you can see what the new models look like when they come out of the mould (photo by Curtis Fell):

RAIDER COMMANDO SCULPT

Regarding future figure releases, the fourth Raider type sculpt is finished: the Commando. Commandos in the Nekroplanet Grob game are elite soldiers with expert training, combat experience, and high-end gear. As the other three Raiders, this figure was sculpted using Super Sculpey, Green Stuff, Milliput, and copper rods (for the gun barrels). The uniform green colour of the finished sculpt is from a coat of liquid green stuff. Five more Raiders to go before they get sent off to the caster.

HALLOWEEN ANNIHILATOR

It’s the season when shops offer a variety of horror-themed toys and nick-nacks. This year’s haul included a bunch of six inch plastic skeletons, one of which was promptly used to add to my ever growing collection of toy-bashed Annihilators.

Unlike its stout and stompy predecessors, this Grobnik Annihilator is a tall and lanky machine. I cut up a skeleton and reassembled it using only the skull, pelvis, and the leg bones. The back of the skull was hollow, so I glued a cylindrical piece of plastic there to close the hole and slightly change the silhouette. Hanging cables, deadly eye lasers, and minimal greebling completed the build.

LANDER ON THE SURFACE OF THE NEKROPLANET

A new pair of illustrations for the Nekroplanet Grob rulebook depicts the landing of a raiding party. My aim is to establish the Nekroplanet setting using mainly illustrations like these, and a minimal amount of accompanying text. For these two, I built a tiny lander using a ping pong ball as the starting point. The build was very similar to the spherical drones for which you can find a tutorial here: LINK. The space-suited raiders that emerge from the lander are a bit over 10mm tall, and were sculpted on top of pins. This enabled me to stick them into the cork “rock” underneath when setting them up for the photo.

I set off to also build a large lander that would work with the 28-30mm figures in one of the game scenarios, but I ended up scrapping it - and will have to start over completely. My essential mistake was using a styrofoam ball as the base, which led me to make some choices that had inadequate results. I’m definitely going for a plastic sphere for my next attempt.

As always, big thanks to my Patreon crowd for the support!

I have one more post for you all this month, which will be coming out on Halloween. Until then!

Would love to see a photo of those sprues - what a great idea!

I really adore the Nekroplanet stuff. I can’t really articulate why, but the imagery and visuals just resonate with me, idk ????
If you’re looking for a suitable plastic ball to base your 28mm lander around, you can often pick up cheap world map globes from thrift stores or dollar/pound/euro/whatever cheapo local shop you have. Those are great and the stand is ready made to become some sort of arcane pylon thingy.

@ Chris- It’s really a great idea! The pic is right under the paragraph talking about it.

@Ben-  Thank you! Amd thanks for the globe suggestion! Someone elsewhere suggested a hamster ball. I’ll be looking into both.
